Nutrition is a vital but often overlooked factor in oral health. I work with patients to develop proper nutritional habits.
I’m a proud member of the Canadian Clinicians for Therapeutic Nutrition, a group of physicians & health professionals who are dedicated to using proper nutrition to reverse metabolic disease and improve people’s health and well-being.
When you’re in my care, I’m more than just your dentist. I’m looking out for your well-being, and my goal is to work with you for many years to come, ensuring that you’re making the best choices not only for good oral health but for an overall state of wellness. I look forward to beginning that conversation with you, and answering any questions you may have about nutrition.
DID YOU KNOW??
Canadians eat/drink on average more than 50 pounds per year of sugar ADDED by industry to the foods they eat. HFCS ( high fructose corn syrup) is commonly added and not identified as such on Nutrition Labels. (it will be listed as a glucide). That is 90,000 calories a year.
Processed Foods often contain these ADDED sneaky sugars. eg. Soda pop; fruit yoghurt; salad dressing; frozen dinners and pizza; bread; canned fruit; juices; iced tea; boxed foods of all kinds; granola bars and chocolate bars; cereal; baked goods; sauces mustards and ketchup ( watch out for peanut butter with sugar); chips and bagged snacks; energy bars; so-called athletic drinks and some desserts. It is probable that many medical doctors are not current in their knowledge about healthy nutrition.
Your nutritional fats and proteins are vital for a healthy life.
Saturated fat is a healthy nutrient! Any food that contains fat has all of saturated, mono and polyunsaturated fats in various percentages.
Don’t avoid dairy products unless you are intolerant. (BTW there is NO sugar or lactose in whipping cream.😀)
